You can help
Over 200 homes were lost in the Butte Lightning Complex Fires in Concow, California in July of 2008. What was once a thriving community is now ash, charred dead trees and debris. Hundreds of fire survivors are trying to recover. The community and people of Concow need your help to rebuild. Anything at all that you can do to help is greatly appreciated.

Donate now, the work continues
We have enrolled with a local non-profit, The North Valley Community Foundation (NVCF), to serve as fiduciary for our work so that donations are tax deductible. They keep 2% from donations for administration fees.
Click here to go directly to NVCF and donate to the Concow Phoenix Project. Online donations are secure through Pay Pal. Processing fees will be assessed per transaction.
Checks can be made payable to NVCF and MUST be earmarked for "The Concow Phoenix Project Fund" on the check. Send them to: NVCF, 3120 Cohasset Rd, Suite 8, Chico, CA 95973.
Your donations are entirely tax-deductible. Please put your checkbook where your compassion is.
There are ways other than financial that you can help.
Donations of useful items for the clean-up and restoration are vital.
Hand tools such as shovels and rakes, hammers and saws, cordless drills, and axes are needed.
We've started a Tool Bank for tool sharing and need donated tools to loan. All types of tools (electric, hand, woodworking, plumbing. etc.) are needed. Any duplicates will be given to fire survivors. Contact us to arrange donations.
Other suggestions are tarps, gates, locks, garbage cans and bags, a load of gravel, bales of rice straw for erosion control, native grass and flower seed.
Storage sheds are needed for tools and supplies as people work, but are not able to reside, on their land.
You get the idea...
Maybe the most meaningful of all:
How about donating an afternoon or even a whole day of labor to an individual, or family, who lost their home? Work parties are being organized. Residents helping residents. People helping people.
Even if you can't come to Concow to work outdoors, there are other projects that need your help:
- email list coordinator
- fundraising
- community outreach & PR
- volunteer coordinator
- making telephone calls
- picking up & logging material donations
- volunteering at the tool bank
- volunteering at the Phoenix Free Store
Download our printable volunteer form and contact the Concow Phoenix Project at info@concowphoenix.org. We'll contact you (based on your interests) to see if you are available to help.
Thank you from the people of Concow!
